Inclusive Education for All

The GIFT School is an inclusive microschool designed to provide a highly personalized, supportive, and relationship-centered educational experience for every student. Our model combines the strengths of a traditional private school with the flexibility and individualized approach of a microschool.

Microschools are intentionally small learning environments that allow educators to know their students well and adapt instruction to individual academic, developmental, social, and sensory needs. Rather than expecting every child to learn in the same way, at the same pace, and through the same methods, the microschool model allows education to be shaped around the learner.

What Makes The GIFT School Different?

At The GIFT School, small is intentional. Our smaller learning communities allow teachers and support staff to develop meaningful relationships with students and families while providing more individualized attention.

Students may learn in small groups, individually, or alongside students of different ages and abilities. This flexibility allows instruction to be adjusted according to each student's strengths, interests, learning style, and areas of need.

Our classrooms are designed to support both academic growth and whole-child development. We recognize that successful education includes much more than academic skills. Communication, independence, social-emotional development, executive functioning, sensory regulation, life skills, confidence, and relationships are all important parts of a child's educational journey.

An Inclusive Learning Environment

Inclusion is at the heart of The GIFT School.

We believe students with different abilities should have opportunities to learn with and alongside one another, rather than being separated simply because they learn differently. Our model embraces differences in ability, communication, behavior, learning style, and developmental level.

Teachers use differentiated instruction, individualized supports, hands-on learning, movement, sensory strategies, visual supports, and other appropriate accommodations to help students access the curriculum and participate meaningfully in the school community.

We don't ask, "How can we make this child fit our classroom?"

We ask, "What does this child need in order to be successful in our classroom?"

Personalized Academics

The GIFT School maintains academic expectations while recognizing that students may reach those expectations through different pathways.

Teachers monitor each student's progress and use that information to determine appropriate instruction, interventions, enrichment, and support. Students can receive additional assistance when they need it and greater challenges when they are ready.

This approach allows education to be personalized without sacrificing academic rigor.

Learning Through Experience

Microschools often incorporate hands-on, experiential, project-based, and community-connected learning rather than relying exclusively on traditional whole-class instruction.

At The GIFT School, students have opportunities to learn through:

Families are viewed as partners in education, not simply recipients of information.

We believe that children learn best when they feel known, accepted, safe, valued, and capable.

Supporting the Whole Child

The GIFT School recognizes that every child brings a unique combination of abilities and needs to the classroom.

Our goal is not simply to help students complete assignments or meet grade-level benchmarks. Our goal is to help each child develop the skills and confidence necessary to become as independent, capable, and engaged as possible.

For some students, success may mean mastering a new academic skill. For another, it may mean communicating a need, developing friendships, tolerating a new experience, regulating emotions, participating in a group, or completing a task independently.
